Reserve Deputies

I’ve previously told you about many of the programs I’ve started. I’ve also informed you about the Sheriff’s Posse and how they help with search and rescue. In this week’s installment of Coffee with the Sheriff let me tell you about Reserve Deputies. Reserve Deputies are people in the community that are interested in Law Enforcement but may already have full-time jobs that they are comfortable with. Sometimes they're younger men and women that are trying to get into Law Enforcement. At other times they’re older men and women that want the opportunity to give back to their community by assisting Law Enforcement officers. Some of these duties include helping at the jail, riding along with deputies, and helping with parades and other functions. Reserve Deputies don't receive any pay, and they purchase their own equipment which includes uniforms, body armor, and weapons. They often do fundraisers to help obtain these items. They’re truly a great bunch of folks that have saved the county thousands of dollars by filling in when correctional officers have been out. My hat's off to them. Thank you to all my Reserve Deputies and other volunteer staff that help the Sheriff's Office every day!

Best regards,
