Neighborhood Watch

No law department can do it all, so it's vital concerned Citizens do their best to work with Law Enforcement to make communities safer. Several communities throughout the county are participating in the Neighborhood Watch Program already, and residents of Samson are currently working with Law Enforcement to set up their own watch. Starting a neighborhood watch begins with scheduling regular meetings and deciding how to conduct them. Facebook pages for communication are created, family data sheets for E-911 are completed, and groups are setup with appointed coordinators. Once a neighborhood watch is formed, specialized training from Law Enforcement takes place at each meeting. This training includes how to gather information appropriately and record it, how to be a good witness, how to recognize suspicious sights and sounds, and how to correctly relay directions, person descriptions, and vehicle identifications. Residents are excited about their Neighborhood Watch Programs, and we're definitely seeing a reduction in criminal activity.
